SeaDoc is a "Recommended Non-Profit" on Lockerz.com

How cool is this? When the popular website Lockerz.com announced their new "LockerzCares" initiative to connect their 20 Million members with non-profit organizations around the world, SeaDoc was one of 8 non-profits chosen to participate in the pilot program.

Other featured charities include One Laptop Per Child, Girls Who Code, Grassroot Soccer, The Tech Museum, Wayuu Taya Foundation and Love 146.

Most of Lockerz.com's members are in the 13-30 age demographic, one that's known for its concern for the environment and its passion for activism. (It's also an age range that is not well represented on SeaDoc's donor rolls...)

As the company's founder Kathy Savitt (a long-time SeaDoc supporter) notes, "Gen Z's sense of altruism is a defining characteristic of this new generation of world citizens."

The Lockerz.com website gives you points when you post and share photos and videos on the site. For most users these points can be converted into discounts on brand name merchandise in the Lockerz Store, but for SeaDoc and others in the LockerzCares program, each share will bring us a cash donation.

Please take a look at Lockerz and if you sign up, be sure to "grab" and share the images and videos we've posted.

Why our work matters

Healthy ecosystems support economic prosperity. The Salish Sea provides abundant natural capital that contributes substantially to the financial prosperity of the region. Unhealthy ecosystems cost money because we lose the opportunity to benefit from them. The Salish Sea's deteriorating health threatens our economic well being and quality of life. SeaDoc uses science to find solutions to the problems facing the fish, wildlife and people of the Salish Sea.

How you can help:

Tell people about the work we're doing. Sign up for our email newsletter and share what you learn with your friends. Become a fan on Facebook and "like" and comment on posts that interest you. (The more people who like or comment on a post, the more people Facebook will show it to.)

Make a donation: Most of SeaDoc's work is supported by private donations from people like you who care about the health of our coastal ecosystems. Your donation makes it possible for us to keep doing the science that will give us objective information about designing a healthy ecosystem that benefits both people and wildlife.
