Donor Spotlight: Richard and Dawn Bangert

This month’s Donor Spotlight features Richard and Dawn Bangert—two big SeaDoc supporters who have been regular guests at our Wine & Sea Auction over the years! The Bangerts also have their gifts matched by their former employer. Get to know Richard and Dawn below and check to see if your employer matches donations here!

What inspired you to support SeaDoc Society?

We have had a family home on Orcas Island since 1962. We became interested in SeaDoc when Lee and Stu Rolfe asked us to support the publication of The Salish Sea: Jewel of the Pacific Northwest. We met Joe Gaydos and we were hooked!

What's your biggest concern about Salish Sea health?

The diminishing salmon population.

What's your favorite aspect about SeaDoc Society as an organization?

We love Joe Gaydos and his videos. We watch them religiously.

Why should others consider supporting ocean health?

The Pacific Northwest is known for its glorious sound, bays and inlets. Protecting this environment for our children and grandchildren is of paramount importance.

What's your favorite species in the Salish Sea?

Orcas and the Puffins

Anything you'd like to add that we didn't ask about?

We enjoy the annual wine auction which hopefully will be returning next year and meeting our fellow islanders to support SeaDoc. We are so lucky to have this organization headquartered at West Sound.
