Chapter 3 of our b-sides for my mini feature - RETURNING. On our travels while making the film, we came across so many great stories, unfortunately not all of them could make it into the final film. To make up for it we've decided to produce a series of mini vignettes on some of the livelihoods who have found a place on the Salish Sea. In this short piece we hear thoughtful words from scientist Joe Gaydos as he recaps about our need to re-connect to nature, and how science plays a huge part in making that connection.
The Salish Sea is a great example of a beautiful place where people and the natural world are dependent on one another. In scenic locales like protected national parks, people are not so much participating in nature as they are observing it. In the Salish Sea people are fishing, heating their homes with firewood, and more.
This short segment is a “b-side” for the mini feature film, Returning. In the clip, SeaDoc Society Science Director Joe Gaydos reflects on what makes this ecosystem special.
