The Salish Sea’s Grizzly Connection

SALISH SEA WILD

SeaDoc’s Team Grizzly journeys to the wildest, northernmost edge of the Salish Sea to get close to THE great bear of the Great Bear Rainforest. Forty hungry grizzlies roam British Columbia’s Glendale Cove under intense pressure to pack on the pounds before winter.

For us to survive amid the bears, we need to follow some simple rules like not wearing cologne (or, as the bears call it: seasoning). But for the grizzlies, especially the females with cubs, surviving winter hibernation depends on finding enough salmon during this short season of fish or famine.

The fish are seriously late starting their spawning run, so we head deep into the estuary to witness the grizzlies’ race against time.
