Thanks, Michelle!

After years as part of our small but mighty Admin Team, our friend and coworker Michelle Homewood completed her time at SeaDoc last month. She’ll now embark on the exciting next chapter of her career.

As an Administrative Assistant with SeaDoc, Michelle’s hands were on everything from arranging field-work logistics to processing the donations that make that work possible.

In our regular Monday morning meetings, we’d often ask Michelle what cool corner of the Salish Sea she had explored over the weekend. Her physical connection to the Salish Sea is about as automatic as it comes and that will no-doubt continue.

Michelle spent the last few years getting her Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology and we wish her well as she embarks on that career!

“I can’t overstate how much my time with Team SeaDoc has meant to me,” Michelle told me (Justin, Comms Guy). “Working to protect the health of the Salish Sea alongside this incredible group of people has been both inspiring and deeply rewarding. Some of my favorite memories include seeing our community come together during the Wine and Sea auctions, and spending time on the water assisting with field research. I’m grateful to have worked with a team that makes saying goodbye so gosh darn hard!”

Michelle worked closely day-to-day with Executive Assistant Erika Nilson and Regional Director Leigh Ann Gilmer. Here’s Erika:

Working with Michelle meant having an “external brain” you could always count on. When things felt overwhelming, she was the constant that kept me (and SeaDoc) steady, making sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Her enthusiasm for our work and this beautiful place is so abundant and we are a better organization having her as part of Team SeaDoc!

And here is Leigh Ann:

I cannot say enough good things about Michelle. She's one of my favorite people! Her many contributions to our work at SeaDoc have set us up to take big leaps in advancing Salish Sea science. We are all so proud of her hard work to pursue her passion in speech pathology, and she'll always be a part of Team SeaDoc!

From the whole team: Thanks, Michelle!
